As a professional cleaning company operating in the Alton area of Hampshire, we know just how much the chaos of Christmas can leave you with nothing but a messy home. Luckily, our years of experience has allowed us to offer you some tips and tricks when to comes to giving your house the pro treatment post-Christmas.

Freshen your curtains – effortlessly

Cleaning your curtains should be an essential part of your everyday cleaning routine. However, if you’re busy schedule means that this household task is often overlooked, we highly recommend taking the time after Christmas to give your curtains a good old clean- making sure you enter the New Year one task down.

The soft brush of a vacuum cleaner can be used to remove everyday dirt and dust from even the most delicate of curtains. Just make sure you tackle your curtains with love!
If you want to get rid of any smells, we recommend taking your curtains off the rails and hanging them over your washing line to freshen them up- although picking a day where you’re not facing the elements this time of year may be difficult!

Any lightweight curtains can be washed in your washing machine, while those made of more delicate fabrics should be hand washed to avoid shrinkage. You don’t want to learn this trick the hard way- trust us!

Blast your limescale

You’becha, we’re back at it again with the vinegar. Vinegars natural anti-bacterial properties make it the handiest ingredient when it comes to cleaning and eliminating limescale.

If you’ve got a tricky shower head, or tap that’s covered in limescale, we recommend tying a plastic bag filled with white vinegar around those tricky areas, ensuring they’re fully submerged. Leave it on for an hour, and you’ll be amazed at how much build up disappears.
Brighten your paintwork without repainting

Whether you’ve got the family round for Christmas, or little ones running their hands up and down your walls, you’ll definitely want to take the time to freshen up your painted walls, without taking the time to actually paint them!

Solution?

Take a microfibre dust cloth or soft brush and remove loose dirt and cobwebs, then use a damp sponge to wipe your walls down. Start at the top and clean side to side, working your way around your room. Use a dry tea towel to wipe any excess moisture.

Tools of the trade

Although every task requires a different tool, there are 3 staple tools we recommend any household holds.
1. A feather duster
2. A microfibre cloth
3. A timer

Sure, the first 2 may be pretty self-explanatory, however, you may be wondering what’s so important about the timer?
We always recommend using a timer when cleaning, not only can you set a time for each task and move on when your times up, but you can also monitor how long you spend cleaning as a whole each day… or, even better when the timer is up, and the clutter is gone, you’re free! Cheers to that.
